BOOK REVIEW

Highly Recommended!

I've been through Mark Cahill's book "One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven" not once but TWICE this past week. It's just an inspiring read with page after page of practical helps to share your faith with anyone, and laced throughout with stirring stories from Mark's own experience.

From the wild streets of South Beach in the wee hours of the morning, to airplanes and shopping malls, to poignant moments of one-on-one encounter with some of America's best known athletes, Mark is sold out to the adventure of preaching the gospel with as many people as he can.

There are similar books that have been written over the years, but what sets this one apart for me is the author's grasp of the Biblical gospel. Here is a thoroughly 21st century evangelist, telling riveting stories in a popular and engaging style, but not compromising the message in the way that most of today's evangelism does. His chapter entitled "Guilty!" is essential reading for every Christian.

If you haven't read it yet ... go order a copy NOW!

Screening in full tonight!

TONIGHT at 7.00pm we are screening the film "The Privileged Planet" at our church.

Last week we concluded our 6 week Wednesday night series, "The Case for a Creator", and tonight's film is a follow-up that we are really excited to present.

The producers describe this film, and the landmark book it is based on:

Is Earth merely an insignificant speck in a vast and meaningless universe? On the contrary: The Privileged Planet shows that this cherished assumption of materialism is dead wrong. In this provocative book, Guillermo Gonzalez and Jay W. Richards present a staggering array of evidence that exposes the hollowness of this modern dogma. They demonstrate that our planet is exquisitely fit not only to support life, but also to give us the best view of the universe, as if Earth were designed both for life and for scientific discovery. Readers are taken on a scientific odyssey from a history of tectonic plates, to the wonders of water and solar eclipses, to our location in the Milky Way, to the laws that govern the universe, and to the beginning of cosmic time. The Privileged Planet contains astounding findings that should lead any individual to reevaluate and even to reconsider our very purpose on what so many have dismissed as nothing more than an accident of cosmic evolution.

This is a great opportunity to bring friends and family along. They'll be fascinated, and see the unmistakable hand of the Creator.

Where are we? First Assembly of God, 133 Junction Road, Brookfield, CT.

We'd love to see you!

New study series ... starts this Wednesday

In recent months we've taken a very different approach to our Wednesday night Bible studies, and the feedback we've received from people who've attended has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

We've been running short series (6 to 13 weeks), not just lecture format, not just films, not just small groups, but in fact a combination of all different kinds of teaching and learning together. We've included media, music, small group interactions, live lecture spots, group prayer ... you name it.

The series we've run so far have included ...
We're very excited to invite you to join us this Wednesday night (September 10th) as we commence a brand new series:

Based on the best-selling book by former atheist and award-winning Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel. Strobel has discovered that science, far from being the enemy of faith, now provides a solid foundation for belief in God. New scientific discoveries point to the incredible complexity of our universe, a complexity best explained by the existence of a Creator.

I've finished watching all the Lee Strobel video clips that we'll be watching as part of our time together over the next 6 weeks, and I have to say that they are stunning.

Join us, and bring a friend - atheists, agnostics ... ALL are welcome to be our guests.

WHERE: First Assembly of God, 133 Junction Road, Brookfield, CT.

WHEN: Wednesday evenings starting September 10th.

TIME: 7.00pm sharp!

See you there!
